Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Stepdown

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care based on principles from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences. Care is culturally and age-specific, following ethical standards and the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.

Unit Overview: Cardiovascular Stepdown

32-bed surgical step-down/progressive care unit
Focus on cardiothoracic surgery and interventional cardiology
Patient populations include LVAD, innovative valve replacement, pectus excavatum, and post-STEMI
Nursing responsibilities include managing cardiac arrhythmias, titrating multiple IV medications, and conscious sedation for cardioversions
Nurses are ACLS certified, have completed ECG interpretation courses, and follow AACN Progressive Care Guidelines
Specialty skills include chest tube removals, femoral arterial line removals, complex external pacing, ACT and iSTAT point of care testing

Required Qualifications

Education

Diploma of Nursing

Licensure & Certifications

BLS issued by American Heart Association
ACLS issued by American Heart Association

Skills & Experience

Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Stepdown experience within the last year
Previous experience in Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit (CVSU)
