Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU (Night Shift)
Location
- Peoria, Illinois
Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care and management to ICU patients as part of an interdisciplinary team, applying the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
Work Schedule
- Night shift
- 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Key Responsibilities
- Use evidence-based practice and protocols to deliver patient care.
- Assess patient status through interviews, observation, and physical exams.
- Develop and modify individualized care plans collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
- Document patient progress and update care plans as needed.
- Perform patient bedside lab testing and ensure quality control.
- Promote patient and staff safety, including proper use of lift equipment.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care and communicate effectively with team members.
- Prioritize work based on patient condition and assignment changes.
- Provide goal-focused shift reports and advocate for patients with physicians.
- Educate patients and families using age-appropriate, culturally sensitive teaching strategies.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and unit-based councils.
- Implement changes in clinical practice based on evidence and quality outcomes.
- Assist with data collection, audits, and quality improvement projects.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Experience
- Specialty experience: ICU nursing (critical care)
- Required years of experience: Minimum 1 year ICU experience within the last year
- Prior travel experience: Not required
