Job Summary

• Assemble, clean, disinfect, sterilize, and store procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment.
• Assemble, distribute, and deliver disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to Operating Room, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments, and Clinics.
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment.
• Disassemble carts and follow Universal Precautions for decontamination.
• Sterilize, disinfect durable medical equipment and instruments; package clean supplies and instruments; maintain records; transport sterilized items to the floor.
• Assemble sterilized instruments and recheck for cleanliness and impairment; properly check power equipment.
• Track instruments using labeling, engraving, and documentation of missing instruments and implants replaced in trays.
• Communicate equipment and instrument inventory status with Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse, including order status and back orders.
• Respond to emergency situations ensuring emergency, trauma, and add-on cases are supplied and delivered timely to the Operating Room.
• Use applications and technology to maintain records in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
• Provide on-the-job training to newly hired associates.
• May be required to work overtime, float to other departments within competency, and be on-call during scheduled shifts.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.
• Regular attendance on-site during scheduled business hours or shifts.
• Effective and diplomatic communication within a multi-functional team.
• Experience and understanding of computer use and ability to learn relevant Sterile Processing software.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
• Availability to work nights and/or weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in hospital or clinic operating room environment.

No specific license or years of experience requirement stated.
Prior travel experience is not required.
