Registered Nurse - Medical Imaging Administration
Location: Peoria, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Day
Hours per Week: 36 (9 hours per day)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse on the interdisciplinary team, you will provide professional nursing care in the Medical Imaging department. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring, and supporting interventional procedures to ensure efficient and safe patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments and report significant findings.
- Administer medications and conscious sedation safely following policies.
- Monitor patient condition and initiate interventions as needed.
- Perform venipuncture, peripheral catheter insertion, and adult/pediatric catheterization.
- Assist as circulating tech and scrub assistant during procedures.
- Set up and use monitoring equipment (capnography, cardiac output, arterial pressures).
- Oversee narcotics and supply control with proper documentation.
- Coordinate daily interventional case flow and RN resources across multiple imaging modalities (IR, CT, MRI, Sono, Nuclear Medicine).
- Conduct daily equipment and supply inspections (e.g., crash cart, defibrillator, narcotics log).
- Educate patients and families on procedures, adapting teaching to age, culture, and comprehension level.
- Ensure compliance with patient safety goals and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience within the last year
- Radiology experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
Additional Information
- Must practice nursing within the scope of Illinois RN licensure.
- Competency in caring for critically ill patients and functioning independently in emergencies is expected.
- Experience with moderate sedation guidelines and patient safety protocols is essential.
