Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Job Description

  • Provide professional nursing care to a group of patients during assigned shifts using nursing processes, current trends, technology, and resources.
  • Perform initial patient assessments upon admission and develop, implement, and modify individualized care plans in collaboration with providers, patients, and families.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
  • Ensure patient and staff safety by identifying, reporting, and correcting hazards.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, families, and visitors to promote a healing environment.
  • Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in continuous professional development.

Department-Specific Functions

  • Apply nursing procedures and theories specific to Emergency Department (ED) nursing.
  • Perform ongoing patient assessments and adjust care plans accordingly.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure quality patient care and safety.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
  • Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients.
  • Experience using Epic electronic health record system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification.
