Job Summary

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will provide and manage patient care using professional nursing knowledge and skills. Responsibilities include assessing patient status, developing and modifying individualized care plans, performing bedside lab testing, coordinating care with the healthcare team, and promoting patient and staff safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply evidence-based nursing practices and protocols.
• Assess patients through interviews, observation, and physical exams.
• Develop and adjust individualized care plans collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Document patient progress and complete required reports.
• Demonstrate accountability and pursue ongoing professional development.
• Troubleshoot and operate clinical equipment.
• Perform patient bedside lab testing and quality control per provider orders and policies.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
• Prioritize work effectively based on patient condition and assignment changes.
• Advocate for patients with physicians when necessary.
• Use effective communication and teamwork strategies to promote optimal patient outcomes.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet patient/family learning needs and comprehension levels.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
• Minimum 3 years of Med Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Education

• Required: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
