Job Summary:

• Provide nursing care to acutely ill patients under the supervision of nurse leaders.
• Perform the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Ensure compliance with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and California Nurse Practice Act.
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient status, activating emergency protocols as needed.
• Adhere to infection control policies, medication administration protocols, and controlled substance regulations.
• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and nursing governance councils.
• Maintain knowledge of current nursing practices and hospital policies.

Required Qualifications:

• 3 years of nursing experience.
• Valid and unrestricted State of California Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Current American Heart Association certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Knowledge of advanced nursing theory, techniques, medical terminology, and medication effects.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a bachelor’s or associate degree.

Additional Information:

• Employees must maintain all health requirements designated by Kern Medical Center.
• Specific certificates of competency may be required based on assignment.
