Job Description

• Perform routine and specialized ultrasound examinations using independent judgment to adapt procedures for specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results under radiologist direction.
• Conduct ultrasound procedures ensuring accurate and complete exams for patients of all ages.
• Obtain accurate patient histories and explain procedures to patients and families.
• Use appropriate transducers and machine settings to enhance image quality.
• Evaluate images to ensure diagnostic quality before submission to radiologists.
• Assess abdominal arterial and venous systems using color imaging.
• Maintain knowledge and operation skills of all ultrasound equipment, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
• Prepare sterile trays and assist radiologists with invasive procedures such as biopsies.
• Order labs and pathology tests as directed by radiologists.
• Support Medical Imaging department functions, including training technologists and students.
• Manage patient flow and data entry to ensure efficient and timely patient care.
• Maintain quality assurance, control, and improvement programs.
• Foster a professional and respectful learning environment among staff.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Associate’s Degree in Sonography or Radiology or Certificate of completion of a Radiologic Technology program
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, with experience within the last year

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• One of the following ARDMS certifications:

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdomen (RDMS-AB)
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Obstetrics and Gynecology (RDMS-OB/GYN)
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Breast (RDMS-BR)
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Fetal Echocardiography (RDMS-FE)
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Neurosonology (RDMS-NE)
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Pediatric Sonography (RDMS-PS)
