Job Summary

• Evaluate and treat patients of all ages in an acute care setting.
• Serve as a role model and clinical resource for staff and students.

Essential Functions

• Perform patient transfers safely using proper body mechanics.
• Develop and adjust individualized care plans based on patient response and evidence-based practices.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
• Conduct examinations and determine therapy diagnoses and outcomes of care.
• Screen patients to assess the need for therapy services.
• Supervise and provide feedback to support personnel in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Document evaluations, treatment plans, and patient responses per department policies.

Department-Specific Functions

• Implement intervention plans that address functional and emotional needs.
• Modify approaches based on patient behavior and performance.
• Utilize standardized outcome measures to reflect functional performance accurately.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and the medical team throughout the rehabilitation process.
• Provide supervision to COTAs and rehabilitation technicians as required.
• Communicate patient progress, status changes, and discharge recommendations effectively with the medical team.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Occupational Therapy (OT) license in Illinois.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
