Registered Nurse - Ortho Inpatient
Location
- Urbana, Illinois
Job Type
- Clinical Nursing
- Night Shift (7:00 pm – 7:00 am)
- 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide professional nursing care to a group of patients using the nursing process and current nursing trends.
- Perform initial patient assessments upon admission and develop, implement, and modify individualized plans of care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Assess orthopedic and medical/surgical patients every shift.
- Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs.
- Coordinate care with physicians and surgeons.
- Delegate and monitor interventions performed by healthcare team staff.
- Set up orthopedic traction and manipulate surgical traction devices.
- Manage wound appliances such as wound vacs, drains, pouches, and other urological devices.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience.
- Illinois state RN license in good standing.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
