Registered Nurse (Float Pool - Clinical Resource Unit)

Location: Normal, Illinois
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide specialized nursing care across multiple inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care, Progressive Care, Mental Health, and Acute Rehab.
• Care for patients with diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, congestive heart failure, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest pain.
• Work in a fast-paced, evolving environment utilizing current technology and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and modify individualized care plans based on patient and family needs.
• Administer medications and evaluate their effects, prepare patients for procedures, manage post-operative care, perform IV venipuncture, and blood administration.
• Document all nursing care accurately using electronic medical records (EMR).
• Provide direct patient care and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and optimize patient outcomes.
• Float to various inpatient units as needed, acting as a resource for staff from different specialties.
• Ensure patient safety by adhering to fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation protocols, and ambulation safety.
• Conduct bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, maintain patient communication boards, and promptly respond to patient call lights.
• Delegate patient care tasks to healthcare team members and validate task completion.
• Manage conflict professionally and provide constructive feedback to peers.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience, with Med Surg experience within the last year.
• Experience in cardiology and pulmonology patient care.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
