Job Summary:
Performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management. The Surgery Tech supports system-wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices, actively participating in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined. Responsibilities include maintaining sterile fields, preparing operating rooms and instruments, assisting surgeons during procedures, and ensuring proper handling of specimens and surgical items. Additional duties include room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent procedures, as well as promoting the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program or graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months (not eligible for Tech in Surgery exam).
- Two (2) years of scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last three (3) years.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active National Certification as an ORT in Surgery or Certified Surgical Technologist.
- One (1) year of OR scrubbing experience.
- One (1) year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital.
Additional Information:
- May be required to float to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications based on business needs.
- May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
