Job Title: Research Nurse Coord I

Job Summary: The Research Nurse Coordinator implements designated research trials and provides skilled clinical research nursing care to patients and families. Works closely with Principal Investigators to maintain high-quality coordination of research through compliance with sponsor-specific and regulatory guidelines. The Research Nurse Coordinator will deliver research nursing care to patients and families with team orientation, an emphasis on good customer relations, sound clinical judgment, and appropriate decision-making abilities that take into consideration evidence-based practice in line with the research protocol.

Required Qualifications:
• Associate Degree in Nursing with three (3) years of nursing experience and two (2) years of research experience, or
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing with three (3) years of nursing experience.
• RN License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and basic knowledge in data entry (e.g., Excel).

Additional Information:
• May participate in Quality Assurance programs through auditing and reviewing audit outcomes with research staff.
• Assists with special projects and other research-related activities as designated by Research Operations administration.
• Participates in continuing education to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
• Available for sponsor monitors or other auditors to discuss study issues.
• Participates as required on-site audits, including internal RAO audits, CCHCS internal compliance audits, sponsor monitoring visits or audits, or other governmental audits.
• Attends to audit results by working with Principal Investigator to create corrective action plans to modify processes to prevent future deficiencies.
• Shares process concerns or suggestions for improvement with the RAO team.
• Communicates effectively and professionally with patients/participants, families, investigators, Institutional Review Board, Medical Center/System departments, study sponsors, and RAO team members.
• Provides periodic updates to RAO team regarding patient accruals and status, adverse events, deviations, and study-related issues.
• Develops effective rapport with participants and their families to ensure optimal participant compliance, retention, and satisfaction.
• Documents activities in designated clinical and study management tools and medical records with accuracy and timeliness.
• Documents as required per protocol via sponsor-provided tools with accuracy, legibility, completeness, verifiability, and timeliness.
• Effectively coordinates multiple assigned studies.
• Serves as an integral research team member for each assigned protocol.
• Provides coverage as a backup coordinator to other studies as needed.
• Practices to protect participants' rights as identified in the Belmont Report.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information as well as protected sponsor information.
• Plans, coordinates, and implements patient recruitment/participant study activities, data collection, and records management related to assigned protocols.
• Assists in the management of patient care, maintaining careful adherence to regulatory and sponsor-mandated guidelines for optimal accuracy in protocol procedures and documentation.
• Completes protocol-directed patient assessments within the scope of nursing practice and ensures the PI and pertinent team members are updated.
• Provides ongoing informed consent, in collaboration with the study investigators, by presenting all essential elements of consent to research candidates and their families at a level they are able to understand and answers questions regarding participation.
