Job Summary:
This position functions under the supervision of the Unit Director and the leadership of the Senior Nurse or designated Charge Nurse. The Registered Professional Staff Nurse is responsible for providing individualized quality patient care by assessing patient needs through data collection and by designing, implementing, and continuously evaluating the plan of care. The role involves collaboration with all members of the treatment team, ensuring patient care aligns with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and professional nursing practices. Additional responsibilities include administering medications, attending multidisciplinary treatment planning conferences, providing patient education, maintaining a safe work environment, and participating in performance improvement activities.

Required Qualifications:
- Computer literacy and competency for all required systems
- Positive communication techniques to enhance patient care
- Knowledge and skills to provide care to adolescent, adult, and older adult patients
- Understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan
- Cultural competence relative to patient demographics
- Ability to interpret patient needs based on age, culture, ethnicity, disability, and sexual orientation/gender identity
- Completion of Nursing Admission Assessment accommodating age, culture, and disability
- Initial assessments for abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and pain
- Proficiency in charting, confidentiality, and medication administration
- Crisis management skills, including knowledge of emergency codes, CPR, and AED use
- Maintenance of therapeutic milieu and adherence to unit-specific protocols
