Job Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team members, responsible for handling surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during general surgical procedures. Ensures understanding of assigned surgical procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the assigned surgical team. Provides service support related to patient preparation, patient transport, building services, and assisting the surgical care team with specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.

Job Summary:

Required Qualifications:
- Physical ability to lift and move patients.
- Physical ability to push, pull, and/or lift case carts, instrument trays, and equipment.
- Able to work in a patient care area environment, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, and hazardous gases.
- Prolonged standing and walking.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- Current BLS certification required or must become BLS certified within one month of start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of Surgical Technologist experience preferred.
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program preferred.
Additional Information:
- May train/precept new employees in the Surgical Technologist I role within core assignment.
- Participates in discussions with the Unit Manager/Supervisor regarding job enrichment and career progression.
- Completes required education in a timely manner and participates in ongoing department-specific educational programs.
- Supports administrative and department governance changes to job role and operations.
- Assists RN in admitting, transferring, and discharging patients from the OR.
- Assists leadership in adjusting par levels for efficient supply management.
