Job Summary:
The position is responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment. Responsibilities include assembling, distributing, and delivering disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to meet the needs of the Operating Room, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments, and SCL Clinics. The role involves operating and monitoring sterilization equipment, disassembling carts while following Universal Precautions for decontamination, and maintaining records for all instruments. Additional duties include sterilizing and disinfecting durable medical equipment and instruments, packaging clean supplies, assembling sterilized instruments, and ensuring proper cleanliness and functionality. The position requires effective communication with Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse regarding inventory status, order updates, and emergency situations. On-the-job training for new associates, adherence to SCL Health's mission and values, and flexibility to work overtime, float to other departments, or be on-call may also be required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team
- Experience and understanding in the use of computers and relevant software for Sterile Processing
- Ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
- Availability to work nights and/or weekends
- Regular attendance during scheduled business hours or shifts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinic operating room
