Job Title: Vascular Access Tech
Location: Mayo Clinic Hospital, Rochester Methodist Campus (RMC) and St. Marys Campus (SMC)

Job Summary:
Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods (capillary, venous, assisted line, and arterial collections) and standard safety equipment from all age groups with strict adherence to regulatory requirements and collection procedures. The role involves working in general patient care areas, pediatrics, the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, and Operating Rooms. Responsibilities include rapid response to medical emergencies, accurate patient identification, specimen labeling, handling, transportation, and testing using Point of Care (POC) equipment. The position requires maintaining patient confidentiality, utilizing good customer relations, and demonstrating professionalism.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Graduate of a Phlebotomy training program with a clinical rotation OR three (3) months of Phlebotomy experience.
- National Phlebotomy certification (e.g., NHA, ASCP) must be obtained within 14 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic venipuncture, assisted line collections, and blood culture experience.

- Must possess skills in working in a fast-paced environment, organization, prioritization, attention to detail, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Must be able to push a cart and walk distances.
- Assists with training students and new employees.
