Job Summary:

The Sterile Processing Distribution (SPD) Technician is responsible for decontaminating, disassembling, cleaning, reassembling, packaging, and sterilizing instrumentation for surgical cases, clinics, and nursing units. This role ensures equipment and instrumentation processing meets standards for AAMI and organizational Infection Control guidelines. The technician provides both disposable and reusable equipment to the Operating Room and dispenses disposable supplies utilized in OR cases.

Required Qualifications:

• Eight (8) or more years of experience.
• Three to four (3-4) years of travel experience.
• Experience with trays, decontamination, and sterilization.
• Competency evaluation with a passing score of 90% or higher.
• Level 1 trauma experience and/or 50+ case days.
• Ability to meet unit expectations of 24-32 trays per 8-hour shift.
• Decontamination - 2 manifolds per hour.
• Experience in orthopedics, robotics, laparoscopic, neurosurgery, ENT, CV, general, trauma, plastics, urology, and gynecology.
• Familiarity with OR and clinic workflows as well as instrumentation.
• Basic computer skills.
• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Ability to perform detail-oriented work repetitiously for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work in an environment that frequently responds to STAT and ASAP customer needs.
• Ability to perform tasks with minimal error.
• Must possess critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with borescope, OneSource, and SPM.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or GED.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• CRCST or CSPDT.
