Job Title: Occupational Therapist (OT)
Location: Mississippi

Job Summary: The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for implementing physician orders for Occupational Therapy services. The OT works within an interdisciplinary environment to help patients achieve a safe and independent lifestyle. They provide care tailored to the age-specific needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, utilizing knowledge of growth and development principles. The OT assesses patient data, interprets information to identify requirements, and delivers appropriate care.
Required Qualifications:
- Two years of experience as an Occupational Therapist in an acute care setting.
- Ability to perform patient evaluations using functional tests/measures and develop therapy diagnoses and care plans.
- Proficiency in secure documentation within an Electronic Medical Record system.
- Critical thinking skills for patient evaluation and treatment planning.
- Knowledge of physical agent modalities such as moist heat and paraffin.
- Understanding of cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal, nervous, and integumentary systems for age-specific care.
- Ability to identify learning needs of patients and family members.
- Teamwork skills to assist patients/families across the care continuum.
- Capability to lift, handle, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Operation of equipment such as blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, wheelchairs, walkers, and assistive devices.
Required Education:
- Graduate of a four-year bachelor’s degree or approved Master’s Degree Occupational Therapy Program.
- Acute Care Therapists and Therapy Assistants must complete two hours of annual stroke education.
Required Certification/Licensure:
- Permanent or temporary license as an Occupational Therapist from the Mississippi State Department of Health.
- BLS certification.
