Description

Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist

Job Summary:
Provides health care services by applying sonic energy to assist in diagnosis. Performs Sonography procedures, computer processing, and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by a Radiologist, Cardiologist, or a licensed independent practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of service and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Recognizes various patient conditions to provide appropriate patient care to ensure successful completion of the exam or procedure.

Job Responsibilities:
 

  • Produce quality images for Radiologist/Cardiologist review with correct interpretation.
  • Prepare copies of images and record image release in the electronic health record.
  • Verify images archived to PACS and notify the PACS administrator of any issues.
  • Send images to tele-radiology service after hours as instructed.
  • Participate in image Peer Review with Lead.
  • Work with Lead, Radiologist, and Cardiologist on ACR accreditation as needed.
  • Assist US Coordinator, Radiology Manager, and Radiology Director in equipment and software selections.
  • Order and/or restock supplies and linens.
  • Report all equipment malfunctions to the proper personnel.
  • Report any environmental safety concerns to proper personnel.
  • Work with Lead and vendors to schedule maintenance on equipment.
  • Collaborate with the EHR team, Lead, Radiology Manager, and/or Radiology Director on changes/needs for the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Verify orders, patient name/birth date, and history.
  • Document all incidents related to patient care in electronic health records (e.g., incident reports, medications given).
  • Perform and document time-out procedures for invasive procedures.
  • Follow department protocol for all exams.
  • Provide initial interpretation for exams per department protocol.


Required Qualifications:
 

  • Less than one (1) year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • One (1) or two (2) years in Special Imaging in Ultrasound.


Required Education:
 

  • Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Sonography program.


Required Certifications & Licensure:
 

  • BLS Certification.
  • One of the following certifications is required:
    • ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen Certification.
    • ARDMS Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Certification.


Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
 

  • ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Certification.
