Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer II
Job Summary
Under general to limited supervision and direction, this intermediate-level position is responsible for delivering specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services to adult and/or pediatric patient populations. The role involves aiding medical staff in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of simple to complex conditions, defects, and diseases. The position requires independent clinical and non-clinical duty assignments in various care settings, including acute inpatient facilities, outpatient physician practices, diagnostic/urgent care centers, and remote statewide outreach clinics.
Required Qualifications
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience as a certified or registered cardiovascular or radiologic technology professional in the specialty required by the hiring department.
- Skill in applying principles of cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, positioning of patients, and medical ethics.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Ability to consistently and dependably report to work as scheduled.
- Sensitivity to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes.
- Ability to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
- Discretion in handling confidential information.
- Sound judgment and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Ability to understand various operations, policies, and procedures.
- Professional, polite, courteous, compassionate, and cooperative communication skills.
- High level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Attention to detail.
- Core to intermediate-level knowledge and understanding of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology.
- Core to intermediate-level knowledge and understanding of cardiovascular and/or radiologic technologies and terminology associated with the primary and post-primary specialties for which hired and credentialed.
- Ability and skill to apply core to intermediate-level theory, practices, and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze, and annotate study data or procedure documentation with limited direction and without immediate supervision or assistance.
- Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non-clinical work assignments independently with limited direction.
Required Education
- Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited educational program with emphasis in a primary cardiovascular or radiologic specialty as defined by the ARDMS, ARRT, and/or CCI.
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
- One of the following Cardiovascular or Radiologic certifications through ARRT, CCI, or ARDMS:
- ARDMS: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).
- CCI: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
- ARRT: Radiography (R), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR), Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CI), Sonography (S), Vascular Sonography (VS).
