Special Procedures Technologist

Job Summary:
Following established protocol and under the medical supervision of certified radiologists, Special Procedures Technologists perform procedures for direct interpretation results. They assist radiologists during procedures, supervise student Radiologic Technologists, and maintain good customer relations. Responsibilities include:
• Ensuring patient care and safety during imaging procedures with age-appropriate care.
• Obtaining correct written orders for procedures and efficiently managing patient care assignments.
• Assisting in the clinical education of student technologists.
• Utilizing imaging equipment efficiently while minimizing repeat examinations.
• Instructing and preparing patients for imaging procedures and obtaining informed consent.
• Communicating effectively with patients, family members, and radiologists.
• Adhering to hospital, departmental, and safety policies, including radiation safety guidelines.
• Maintaining licensure requirements and completing mandatory in-services.
• Supporting departmental goals and promoting the mission and values of Roper Saint Francis Healthcare.
• Assisting other team members and demonstrating flexibility and accountability.
Required Qualifications:
• 2 years’ experience as a radiologic technologist or at least 1 year of experience in Special Procedures/Vascular Interventional Radiology.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals.
• South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Radiographer Certification.
• ARRT Radiography (R) Certification.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Completion of an ARRT-accredited Vascular Interventional Radiology Program.
• ARRT VI Radiology Certification.
Additional Information:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to perform and teach Special Procedures exams.
• Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations.
• Responsible for safe operation of Special Procedures and processing equipment.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment.
