Job Summary:
This position functions under the supervision of the Unit Director and the leadership of the Senior Nurse or designated Charge Nurse. The Registered Professional Staff Nurse is responsible for providing individualized quality patient care by assessing patient needs through data collection and designing, implementing, and continuously evaluating the plan of care. The RN works collaboratively with all members of the treatment team and ensures patient care is provided in accordance with hospital-wide policies, regulatory agencies, and standard nursing procedures. Additional responsibilities include administering medication and treatments, attending multidisciplinary treatment planning conferences, providing age-appropriate learning opportunities, maintaining a safe and orderly work environment, and participating in performance improvement activities.

Required Qualifications:
- Computer literacy and competency for all required systems.
- Positive communication techniques to enhance patient care.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to adolescent, adult, and older adult patients.
- Understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan.
- Cultural competence relative to patient and/or resident’s status.
- Ability to interpret information to identify patient needs relative to age, culture, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
- Experience in inpatient behavioral health and float pool.
- EPIC experience.
- ASN degree.
- NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
- BLS-AHA certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN degree.
- 3 years of experience.

Additional Information:
- Must meet annual IV re-certification requirements.
- Knowledge of emergency codes and CPR/AED usage.
- Ability to provide care in the least restrictive manner.
- Understanding of suicide prevention, seclusion, restraint, and quiet area protocols.
- Familiarity with unit-specific protocols, rules, and procedures.
- Safe patient handling techniques.
