Job Title: Surg Tech 2 UP - BMC OR

Job Summary:
The Surgical Technician functions as an integral part of the perioperative team as the first, second, or assisting Surgical Technician under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in delivering safe and effective care to the patient during the intraoperative period. Responsibilities include maintaining a sterile environment, demonstrating technical and psychomotor skills, providing age-specific care to obstetrical patients, organizing supplies and equipment, ensuring safety, and adhering to hospital policies and procedures. Additional duties include charging for equipment and supplies, participating in room turnover and setup, maintaining and cleaning equipment, and performing sterilization and disinfection per policy.

Required Qualifications:
• 1+ years of surgical tech experience
• Ability to independently scrub basic surgical procedures
• Problem-solving skills related to surgical procedures
• Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology
• Knowledge of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers for surgical care
• Understanding of patient care concepts and perioperative teamwork
• Proficiency in sterile technique during surgical procedures

Required Education:
• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology
OR
• Certificate of completion of Surgical Technology program

Required Certifications & Licensure:
• BLS (American Heart Association)
• IDPH Fingerprinting
