Job Title: RN-PACU

Location: Kern Medical Center, California

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a nurse leader, the RN-PACU independently prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients. The role involves performing the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care. The RN-PACU adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and California Nurse Practice Act. Responsibilities include creating a compassionate environment, collecting and interpreting patient data, developing individualized care plans, implementing medical and nursing orders, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and standards. The RN-PACU also participates in professional governance councils, completes mandatory competencies, and demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in the care of populations served by Kern Medical facilities.

Required Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience.
• Valid and unrestricted State of California Registered Nurse License (RN License).
• NIHSS certification.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certifications:
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Knowledge of advanced nursing theory, techniques, and practices.
• Understanding of medical terminology, instruments, equipment, and the effects of medicines and narcotics.
• Graduation from an accredited registered nursing program with a bachelor’s or associate degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in monitoring practices related to patient and employee safety.
• Knowledge of the ANA Code of Ethics and Professional Practice Model.

Additional Information:

• Depending on assignment, incumbents may be required to possess and maintain specific certificates of competency as a condition of employment.
