Description

Job Title: Surgical Tech - First Assist

Location: Paducah, KY

Job Summary:
Assist the surgeon in performing surgical procedures and function as the surgeon’s chief assistant in the operating room. Supervised by the department director and nurse manager, assignments are received from the charge nurse and/or RN in charge of the room.

Required Qualifications:
- Technical Diploma from a surgical technologist accredited program or comparable military training.
- Completion of Surgical First Assistant Program.
- BLS certification.
- NBSTSA Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA).

Preferred Qualifications:
- 6 to 12 months of experience.

Additional Information:
- No prior experience required.
- Responsibilities include scrubbing into cases, assisting with sterile draping, maintaining sterile fields, assisting physicians, and performing post-case cleaning duties.
- May be asked to perform advanced tasks such as suturing and vein harvesting after completing an approved course.
- Responsible for instrument transport and ensuring surgical suite readiness for subsequent procedures.
