Job Summary:
Performs scrub duties and maintains sterile supplies and sterile technique. Assists in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Assembles, organizes, and completes case carts according to doctor’s preference lists. Provides appropriate instrumentation, suture, and all supplies as requested while maintaining a sterile environment. May assist the surgeon by passing instruments during procedures. Ensures proper counting of sponges, needles, blades, and instruments using established policies. Handles specimens, implants, dressings, soiled instruments, contaminated materials, and sharps in accordance with policy and recommended standards of practice. Assists with timely turnover of rooms, including cleanup, replacement, and restocking of supplies and equipment. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health and adheres to service behavior standards. May be required to float to other departments within scope and qualifications based on business needs. On-call duties may be required during scheduled shifts.

Required Qualifications:
• Regular attendance during scheduled business hours or shifts.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends for identified positions.
• Two (2) years of Surgical Tech experience.
• One (1) year of CVOR scrubbing experience.
• At least one (1) year of cardiovascular experience as a Surgical Tech.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduation from a formal, accredited surgical technologist program.
• Training in the US military may substitute for formal surgical technologist training.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications:
• One (1) year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital.
