Description
Position: Medical Technologist - Lab Technologist
Speciality: Hematology
Duration: 13+ weeks of Contract to FTE
Location: Detroit, MI
Shift Timing: Midnights with exception of training on days. Train on days for Hematology then move to Midnights Hematology - Training will be Mon - Friday starting at 6.30 am or 7 am for 6-8 weeks of the assignment and then we'll switch to midnight Candidates working on automation line.
Required skill with schedule Notes:
• Min 3-5 years' experience (in hematology preferred) Previous hematology experience Tech certification.
• Experience with fluid cell counts & differentials
• Completion of accredited Bachelor’s Degree program in medical technology, medical laboratory sciences, or clinical laboratory sciences.
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology may be considered if completed coursework aligns with the duties of the specific Medical Technologist position.
• Preferred - Hematology Specialist Certification
Job Summary:
• Under general supervision, performs routine and complex analytic procedures on blood and/or other body fluids or specimens, involving manual techniques or the use of laboratory instruments and information systems.
Skills:
• Requires six months experience in a medical laboratory setting.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge sufficient to perform laboratory functions.
Required Education:
• Completion of accredited Bachelor’s Degree program in medical technology, medical laboratory sciences, or clinical laboratory sciences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology may be considered if completed coursework aligns with the duties of the specific Medical Technologist position.
• Coursework completed outside of the US must be verified by a NACES approved credential evaluation service.
Preferred Certification & Licensure:
• Certification at the technologist level from a nationally recognized agency, such as ASCP, NCA, ASM, AABB, ACS, or HEW is preferred.
