Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the unit’s director or designee the CNC assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions in the unit on his/her designated shifts. In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in unit.  

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator is an RN who demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for his/her patients. Each unit may require specialized skills. The delivery of care is based on criteria that is age appropriate and is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and learning needs of the individual patient. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator, may rotate to other areas other than his/her normally assigned service area/s, and will perform those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competency. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator performs delegated duties consistent with his/her scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator displays positive support as well as the entire HealthONE organization. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator cares for patients from Adolescents to geriatrics.

The CNC: 

• Assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions during the designated shift. 
• Functions as a resource person for staff member and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff. 
• Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided when s/he is on duty 
• Makes decisions regarding activities with these areas based on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, and Standards of Care for the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.   

Qualifications: 

• Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license.
• Current AHA or ARC BLS required.
• AHA or ARC ACLS preferred.
• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing; BSN desirable.
• Two to four years acute care/specialty nursing is desirable. 1 to 3 years previous experience in charge/supervisory position desirable; able to articulate and demonstrate knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
