Description
Work Schedule:
100% FTE, Monday- Friday typically between the hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. No weekends, holidays, or call.
As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our inpatient care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients.
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to:
- Conduct psychiatric assessments of patients with acute and/or chronic mental illness in inpatient and Emergency Department (ED) settings. This includes the assessment of the patient’s psychosocial, cognitive, developmental, and medical status.
- Develop recommendations for treatment and communicate with the primary treatment team.
- Work collaboratively with the ED and inpatient medical/surgical teams, ED Mental Health Clinicians, and sub-specialties including health psychology, AODA, and geriatrics.
- Provide Telepsychiatry consultation to East Madison Hospital Emergency and Medical-Surgical Units.
- See patients and family members as needed for follow-up psychiatric care that can include medication management, non-pharmacological treatment planning for management of behaviors, bedside supportive therapy, collateral information gathering, team treatment planning meetings, management of acute agitation, and cognitive assessments
Education:
Minimum –
If Nurse Practitioner: Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program.
If Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program.
Licenses and Certifications:
Minimum – State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure
If Nurse Practitioner*:
- Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
- Active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice. These may include the following: Psychiatric-Mental Health.
If Physician Assistant*:
- Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
- Active PA board certification
- Specialization degree in psychiatry (CAQ-PSY)
All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have*: Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire.
*Active license or eligibility to obtain active licensure in state of practice. This may include licensing in Wisconsin and other state(s) of practice.
