You will work onsite at the University Hospital, American Family Children’s Hospital and East Madison Hospital locations in Madison, WI.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Patient & Family Educator to:

• Provide specialized education to adult and pediatric patients on conditions including diabetes, heart failure, anticoagulation therapy (Coumadin and Lovenox), and brief alcohol intervention to support safe and effective care.
• Assess patient and family learning needs and deliver individualized education on essential self-management skills such as blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, and continuous glucose monitor use.
• Partner with interdisciplinary teams across inpatient units and clinics to coordinate and reinforce education and support patients and families in understanding their care plans.
• Utilize evidence-based education strategies, health literacy principles, and innovative teaching technologies to enhance patient and family learning.
• Serve as a resource and collaborator for clinical staff, reinforcing patient education and supporting a comprehensive patient and family education program across UW Health.
• Preferred candidates will have experience caring for patients with diabetes, heart failure, or anticoagulation therapy needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred

Work Experience

• 3 years recent relevant clinical experience Required
• Broad experience in medical/surgical and/or pediatric nursing Required
• Demonstrated leadership experience Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• RN Licensure in the State of Wisconsin Upon Hire Required
• BLS/CPR Certification Upon Hire Required
• CDE Preferred
