Position Summary:
-Performs radiologic treatments for patients.
-Responsible for pre-treatment services and delivery of radiologic treatment.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Treatment of patients:
-Arrange treatment appointments.
-Deliver radiation to patients in accordance with physician’s instructions.
-Operate all types of radiotherapy equipment, i.e., Cobalt Therapy Unit, Linear Accelerator, Simulator, etc.
Pre-Treatment Preparation:
-Operate simulator for localization of tumor size and position.
-Takes contours and collects all physical factors for treatment plans.
-Perform dosimetry for treatment plans.
-Take photographs of patients for portal verifications, etc.
Patient Care Activities:
-Recognize all types of radiation reactions and provides the proper care and instructions to patients.
-Educate patients with respect to radiation therapy reactions and also life style modifications.
-Instruct incoming Residents and technologists in the use of equipment.
-Prepare cerrobend alloy blocks.
-Fabricate plastic holders for blocks.
-Construct and fabricate patient immobilization devices.
-Take and develop radiographs.
-Maintain patient management room neat and orderly.
-Coordinate department with inpatient activities to provide proper patient care.
-When necessary, transports inpatients.
-Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of radiation therapy equipment.
-Perform other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
-Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
-Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing or exerting force up to 75 pounds. Required Skills & Experience:
-Knowledge of radiologic equipment in use at BHMC Good patient interpersonal skills.
-Ability to read and speak English Ability to fully utilize BHMC’s electronic record systems, equipment, and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
-No prior experience required, preference for 6 months to one-year x-ray or radiologic experience preferred. Required Education:
-High School diploma or equivalent required.
-Graduate of accredited radiologic program required.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
-Certification in the operation of Radiologic equipment and treatment required.
