Electrophysiology Technician (EP Tech) 

Location: Iowa Methodist Medical Center Address: Des Moines, IA Hours per Week: 40 (4x10s shifts)

About the Role

UnityPoint – Iowa Methodist Medical Center is seeking an experienced Electrophysiology Technician (EP Tech) to support diagnostic electrophysiology procedures and cardiac interventions. The EP Tech will assist cardiologists during procedures, prepare patients, ensure equipment readiness, and perform specialized technical tasks including catheter placement, EKG interpretation, and electrophysiology data analysis.

This role requires strong technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work across multiple Des Moines campuses as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory of EP equipment and medical supplies

• Prepare and sterilize equipment for EP procedures and surgeries

• Record patient medical history, vitals, height, and weight

• Prepare patients for electrocardiogram testing

• Monitor patient EKGs and report rhythm disturbances to the physician

• Place EP catheters and interpret electrophysiology recordings

• Clean and perform basic maintenance on equipment; report malfunctions promptly

• Adhere to all facility and Amergis policies and procedures

• Perform additional duties as assigned

Shift Schedule

• Shift: Days

• Hours: 7:00 AM start time, 4×10-hour shifts

• Weekly Hours: 40

• Overtime: Billable after 40 hours

• Floating: Required across all Des Moines campuses to similar units

Minimum Requirements

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred

• Two years of EP or Cath Lab experience preferred

• Electrophysiology Technician certification or applicable state-required credential

• Current physical exam per state/contract requirements

• Current TB test or chest X-ray

• Current BLS certification

• Strong verbal communication skills

• High attention to detail

• Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements

Compensation Packages

Travel EP Tech

• Hourly Pay: $40/hr

• Meals: $560

• Housing: $847

• Estimated Weekly Pay: $3,007

Non-billable orientation: 16 hours.
