Position Overview
The School-Based Physical Therapist supports students with physical, motor, and mobility needs to ensure access to the educational environment. This role provides direct therapy, conducts evaluations, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, and contributes to IEP development within a school setting.
Hours: M-F School Based; 40 hours a week
Locations: 3 school sites *Gas reimbursment included (Santa Barbara Area)
Start Date: August 2026 - June 2027

Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive PT evaluations to determine students’ motor, mobility, and functional needs in alignment with IDEA requirements.
Develop and implement individualized therapy plans that support academic participation and functional independence.
Provide direct and consultative PT services in classrooms, therapy rooms, and school environments.
Collaborate with IEP teams including teachers, OTs, SLPs, psychologists, and families to set measurable goals.
Document progress and maintain compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
Train school staff on safe lifting, positioning, adaptive equipment use, and mobility supports.
Recommend adaptive equipment such as walkers, standers, seating systems, and orthotics.
Support safe transportation and mobility throughout the school campus, including bus loading and emergency procedures.
Participate in RTI/MTSS processes to support early intervention and student success.
Qualifications
Doctorate or Master’s in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
Current state PT license (or eligibility for licensure).
Pediatric or school-based experience preferred.
Knowledge of IDEA and IEP processes.
Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
Work Environment
School-based setting (elementary, middle, or high school).
Collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
