Job Opportunity – Clinical Lab Scientist (Blood Bank) – Orange, CA 92868

Start Date: July 28, 2026

Location: Orange County, California

Schedule: Night shift, 4x10-hour shifts (21:30 - 07:30, may flex to 20:00 as needed). Rotating weekends and holidays required. Guaranteed hours with one potential call-off per two-week pay period.

  • High-volume blood bank setting processing 30-50 samples per day with extensive type/screen and crossmatch workload
  • Independent night shift role for experienced professionals with confidence working autonomously
  • Epic Beaker charting system with modern blood bank software and Immucor instrumentation
  • Free parking and comprehensive orientation provided
  • 13-week assignment through October 27, 2026

Requirements:

  • Active California Clinical Lab Scientist license required
  • ASCP-BB or ACP-BB certification required; Clinical Immunohematology Scientist certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent blood bank experience (within past 2 years) required
  • Seasoned travel experience in blood bank specialty required – multiple previous blood bank travel assignments necessary
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Level I Trauma center experience required; teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Large hospital setting experience (300+ beds) required
  • Experience with blood bank software (Wellsky or similar) required; Immucor instrumentation experience preferred
  • Must be able to work fully independently on night shift
  • First-time travelers not accepted for this position
  • Flexibility with weekend rotation required – may exceed every other weekend based on unit needs
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays
  • LA County fire card (within 30 days) and two professional references covering one year within the last three years required
