Description
Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Medical-Surgical – Carbondale, IL 62901
Start Date: October 5, 2026
Location: Southern Illinois
Schedule: Night shift, three 12-hour shifts per week, 36 guaranteed hours. Every other weekend and every other holiday required. Nurse-to-patient ratio of 5-6:1 on nights.
Highlights:
- 25-bed medical-surgical unit with a mix of private and semi-private rooms
- Diverse patient population including stroke patients, post-operative care, and complex medical conditions
- Experience with heparin drips, wound care, dialysis, COPD exacerbations, and CIWA protocols
- Opportunity to work with stroke patients, amputations, drains, chest tubes, and feeding tubes
- 91-day travel nursing assignment in Southern Illinois
Requirements:
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required
- Stroke certification preferred
- Medical-surgical nursing experience with adult patients
