Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology - Travel/Contract

Location: Napa, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract


Job Details

  • Shift: Main shift 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM; start times may vary between 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM depending on facility needs. Flexibility required.
  • Patient Population: Typical Emergency Department patients, including trauma cases requiring multiple scans, extremity exams, and many stroke protocols.
  • Work Environment: Acute Care Hospital with approximately 25 staffed beds.
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Parking: Free parking available.
  • Floating: Traveler will need to float between like units.
  • Block Scheduling: Possible, at manager discretion.
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • Pending License: Not accepted.
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period.

Experience & Requirements

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years (highest requirement noted)
  • First-timers Accepted: Yes
  • Certifications Required:
    • ARRT CT
    • California State License (CPDH Certificate required for RTs in CA)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required.

Skills & Competencies

  • Must be proficient with Siemens imaging equipment.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Experience with stroke protocols and trauma imaging preferred.

Certifications (may be required depending on clinical track)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required every 2 years)
  • IV Certification (for LVN/LPN/Other as applicable)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)

Note: Certification requirements should be verified against clinical track or unit-specific needs.


Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
  • Education verification required for all candidates.
  • Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • Respirator fit testing required for travel candidates (updated annually).

Documentation & Training

  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors).
  • Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting.
  • Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
  • Completion of Providence-specific WorkRamp training modules prior to start, including:
    • Core modules for profession
    • Specialty-specific modules (ER, L&D, Leadership roles)
    • Regional and facility-specific modules
  • Epic training modules required for Providence facilities using Epic.

Additional Notes

  • Traveler must comply with Providence Health and Services floating policy; may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
  • Facility issues radiation badges as needed.
  • Locals are accepted; pending licenses are not.
  • Traveler must include Return to Office (RTO) restrictions at time of submission.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic acute care setting with a focus on emergency radiology and cardiology imaging, including trauma and stroke protocols. The role requires flexibility, proficiency with Siemens equipment, and the ability to work independently. Compliance with Providence Health and Services' extensive credentialing, training, and health requirements is mandatory.
