Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lubbock, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

  • Trauma Level: Level II Trauma Center
  • Dress Code:
    • Licensed nursing personnel (RN, LVN): solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (no print tops except in Children’s Hospital and Women’s Services units)
    • Unlicensed personnel: solid hunter green uniforms or scrubs (no print tops except noted exceptions)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year (1YR/1ST TIMERS OK)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit and clinical track (e.g., Chemotherapy, Electronic Fetal Monitoring, IV Certification, Management of Assaultive Behavior, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background Check: Must be within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
  • Education Verification: Required for all candidates; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report
  • State-specific searches and verifications as applicable (e.g., WA State Patrol Search, OBRA Registry for CNAs in WA)
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
  • Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps/overlaps

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Fit Mask Test: Required for travel nurses starting on or after 2/5/2024; must be updated annually
  • Immunizations/Vaccinations:
    • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (special rules for Alaska placements)
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
    • Flu Vaccine during flu season (9/1–3/30) or declination
    • COVID Vaccine or declination
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required annually for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024

Scheduling and Work Environment

  • Floating Policy: Acknowledgement required; may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
  • Weekends required 6 out of 6 weeks
  • No block schedules required
  • 48-hour shifts not approved

Additional Notes

  • Badge Photo: Passport-style photo required for badge issuance
  • Mandatory completion of facility and specialty-specific training modules via WorkRamp LMS prior to start
  • Modules include annual regulatory requirements, specialty-specific training, and regional core modules
  • Epic training modules required for certain regions and specialties
  • Medication and competency exams required as applicable by specialty/unit
  • Skills checklists required annually for applicable units

This position offers an opportunity to work in a Level II Trauma Center with a supportive environment and clear compliance and credentialing standards. The role is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of specialty experience, including first-time travelers.
