Job Details

• Start Date: ASAP

• Weekend Requirement: Weekend rotation plus meeting department needs
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

• License: California state license required; pending license accepted but must be active by start date
• Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital case management experience, specifically in care coordination and discharge planning
• Hospital experience is mandatory
• First-time travelers accepted (clinical screening required)
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Current certification from AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
• Other certifications may be required based on clinical track and unit (e.g., Chemotherapy, Electronic Fetal Monitoring, Management of Assaultive Behavior, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI)
• Fire Card certification is required; must be obtained prior to or within 30 days post-start
• State professional license verification and NURSYS verification required

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
• Education verification required for all candidates
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • TDAP (within 10 years) or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Respirator safety clearance required annually for travel candidates
• Fit mask test required (updated annually)

Training & Competency Requirements

• Completion of Providence Health and Services WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:

  • Core modules for RNs/LVNs in California
  • Specialty-specific modules based on unit assignment
  • Annual regulatory requirements
• Competency exams as applicable (e.g., medication test/pharmacology)
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units

Additional Notes

• References: Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
• Employment application covering at least the last 5 years required
• No floating expected, but float policy acknowledgment required (may float within reasonable distance)
• Scrub color: Scrubs or business attire
