Experience Requirements
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years (highest requirement noted)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
- BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
- PALS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- Other certifications may be required based on unit and clinical track (e.g., Chemotherapy, EFM, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification) - verify with clinical track
Licensure
- Valid RN license for Texas
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- State-specific license requirements apply
Compliance & Background Checks
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification required for all candidates
- Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine or declination (seasonal requirement)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates
Orientation & Training
- Must complete Providence-specific WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
- Core regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for ER and leadership roles
- Annual regulatory modules
- Epic training modules required within a week of orientation (if applicable)
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required
- Float policy acknowledgment required (may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance)
- Medication and competency exams as applicable
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
Work Environment
- Short Term Acute Care hospital with 49 staffed beds
- Level IV Trauma Center
- Parking available free in unrestricted spaces
- OR provided; wear street clothes to facility
Summary
This is a travel Registered Nurse position in the Emergency Room requiring at least 2 years of specialty experience. The role involves weekend shifts as needed, no floating between units, and the ability to charge nurse with minimal orientation. Candidates must meet comprehensive certification, licensure, health, and compliance requirements, including Providence-specific training modules and background checks.
