Job Description

The Physical Therapy Assistant works collaboratively with residents and care providers to deliver physical therapy services aimed at maximizing residents' functional abilities and independence. Key responsibilities include:

• Performing therapeutic procedures under supervision following evaluation by the supervising therapist.
• Treating residents according to department protocols and therapeutic plans of care, including setting functional goals and determining frequency and duration of services.
• Incorporating resident and caregiver input into treatment sessions.
• Monitoring and progressing treatment programs toward established goals, modifying plans as needed in consultation with the evaluating therapist.
• Documenting all therapeutic interactions timely and ensuring accessibility to the care team.
• Recommending and instructing on appropriate assistive devices.
• Providing education to residents and caregivers and documenting teaching outcomes.
• Complying with Medicare, Medicaid, and other reimbursement regulations.
• Assisting with development of new rehabilitation programs and services.
• Maintaining department cleanliness and following infection control procedures.
• Maintaining required licenses, certifications, and completing annual compliance courses.

Requirements

Education & Licenses

• Associate degree required
• Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) License required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Experience

• Prior experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred
• Years of experience in specialty: Not explicitly stated; assume entry-level to intermediate based on licensure and preferred experience

Physical Demands

• Ability to handle stress related to responsibility for quality care
