Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech

Location: Santa Monica, California

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work at a STEMI and Stroke receiving center with 4 labs.
• Support cardiac, EP, VTE thrombectomy, interventional neuro, interventional radiology, TAVR/TMVR, Watchman, Mitraclip, diagnostic and interventional cardiology, diagnostic and interventional neuro, IR.
• Variable start date, ASAP preferred.
• On-call required Monday through Friday, plus Saturday and Sunday call.
• Floating required between specialties in the lab.
• Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager discretion.

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience in Cath Lab.
• Stroke and Interventional Radiology (IR) experience preferred; EP/structural heart experience not required.
• First-time travelers accepted.
• Prior travel experience: Not required.

Required Licenses and Certifications

• State license for Radiology / Cardiology discipline (Cath Lab Tech).
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• ARRT certification (RCIS not accepted).
• Fluoroscopy permit.
• Pending licenses are NOT accepted.

Work Schedule and Environment

• Monday to Friday with call requirements, including weekends.
• Facility is an acute care hospital with 266 staffed beds.
• Charting system: Epic.
• Scrub color provided for L&D/OR/Cath Lab staff.

Required Qualifications and Compliance

• Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in California
• Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year
• Experience in an acute care setting
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• ARRT certification (RCIS not accepted)
• Fluoroscopy permit
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Respirator fit testing required for travel candidates (updated annually)
• References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years required

Additional Requirements

• Must complete Providence Health and Services required WorkRamp training modules annually, including:

  • Regulatory requirements
  • Specialty-specific modules for Cath Lab and related specialties
  • Epic training modules (completion required prior to moving to permanent status)
• Float policy acknowledgment required (may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance)
• Badge photo required for ID badge
