Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse)

Location: Torrance, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Case Manager role in an acute care facility. This is a travel/contract position with an ASAP start date. The role involves acute care case management and discharge planning.


Key Details

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Floating Expectation: No
  • First Time Traveler: Yes (screening required for first-time travelers)
  • Patient Ratios: Day shift ratio 1:20
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, must be available for holidays
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California
  • Minimum 2 years of case management experience, including acute hospital case management and discharge planning
  • Case management experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current certifications:
    • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
    • BLS issued by American Heart Association
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • CHEMO certification
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have a valid California RN license upon start date (pending license accepted but must be active by start)
  • Required certifications (must be current and from approved organizations):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – if applicable
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – if applicable
    • Other certifications as required by clinical track or unit

Work Environment

  • Acute Care Facility
  • Dress code: Business attire or scrubs
  • No floating to other units expected

Schedule

  • Every other weekend required
  • Must be available for holidays
  • Return to work restrictions: No more than 7 days

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates required)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine or declination (seasonal requirement)
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Respirator clearance (RespSafety) for travel candidates starting 2/5/2024 and after
  • Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Education verification and employment references required
  • Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of required training modules annually via LMS platform (WorkRamp) including:
    • Regulatory requirements
    • Specialty-specific modules for case management and acute care
    • Epic training modules (if applicable)
  • Compliance with state-specific background and registry checks as applicable

Summary

This is a travel contract RN Case Manager position in an acute care setting in California requiring at least 2 years of acute care case management experience. The role requires a valid California RN license, multiple certifications, and compliance with health and background documentation. The schedule includes every other weekend and holiday availability. Training and competency modules must be completed as required.
