Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse)

Location: Mission Viejo, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Start Date: ASAP
• Floating Expectation: May be required to float to a nearby facility
• Patient Ratios: 1:25
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of acute medical care management experience performing care coordination
• Travel Experience: Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
• Weekend Requirement: Weekend rotation required
• Licensing: Must have a valid California RN license upon start date; pending licenses accepted only if licensed by start
• Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 2 years of case management experience, including acute hospital case management
• Case management experience within the last year
• At least one completed travel assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience as a care manager

Certifications (as applicable)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
• Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
• IV Certification (if applicable)
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
• NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable)

Note: Certification requirements may vary based on unit and specialty. Verify with clinical leadership if unsure.

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Education verification required (nursing degree verification for RNs)
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Respiratory safety clearance for respirator use (annual)
• References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years

Additional Requirements

• Must complete required facility and regional training modules annually via LMS platform
• Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required
• Must comply with floating policy (may float to other nearby facilities)

Work Environment

• Acute care setting with patient ratios approximately 1:25
• Scrub color: Turquoise or business casual attire

• This position is not open to first-time travel nurses; prior travel experience is a hard requirement.
• Weekend rotation is mandatory.
