Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse

Location: Lubbock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Unit: Emergency Room (ER)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 3 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
  • Block Scheduling: Required
  • Floating: No floating between units
  • On-call: Not required

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Certifications

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification (if applicable)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification (if applicable)
  • IV Certification (if applicable)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)

Note: Certifications must be from approved organizations (e.g., AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation).


Required Licenses

  • NURSYS verification required

Schedule & Dress Code

  • Solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs for licensed nursing personnel
  • Print tops not allowed except in specific pediatric or women’s services units

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • 9 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • TDAP (within 10 years) or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
    • COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance (annual medical clearance for respirator use)
  • Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Education verification (nursing degree verification required)
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
  • Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background)

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete required WorkRamp training modules annually, including:
    • Regulatory requirements
    • Specialty-specific modules for ER nurses
    • Trauma-informed care (effective for new and extended placements starting 12/22/25)
  • Float Policy Acknowledgement: Candidate may be required to float to another facility within reasonable distance
  • No 48-hour shifts approved
