CT Technologist

Location: Gardner, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shifts: Flexible shifts including weekends and holidays; first and second shift coverage as needed; 10-hour shifts and days to be covered

Job Summary

• Operate CT scanners to produce cross-sectional images for diagnostic purposes.
• Interpret physician scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate CT equipment, and position patients appropriately.
• Ensure radiation safety procedures are followed to protect self and patients.
• Maintain high-quality diagnostic images for accurate radiologist interpretation.
• Coordinate scheduling, patient flow, and documentation to ensure timely and accurate exam completion.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Respond immediately and appropriately in emergency situations.
• Advocate for patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Follow all hospital policies including attendance, hand hygiene, and incident reporting.

Essential Functions

• Assess patients to optimize exposure techniques and take extra precautions for women of childbearing age and pregnant patients.
• Review and verify physician orders before exams to ensure correct procedures are performed.
• Operate diagnostic CT processing and printing equipment to produce quality final images.
• Ensure all images include required demographic and clinical information.
• Administer contrast injections following proper procedures for optimal enhancement.
• Maintain safety by preventing patient falls, slips, and trips, and by securing potentially harmful objects.
• Communicate effectively with patients, including those with hearing difficulties or reduced endurance.
• Recognize and respond to patient pain appropriately using pain management techniques.
• Comply with policies related to the physical security of children.

Physical Requirements

• Exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally; 10 to 25 pounds frequently; up to 10 pounds constantly.
• Frequent reaching and handling with hands.
• Occasional stooping, crouching, and tactile perception.

Required Qualifications

• Valid CT Technologist license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum 1 year of CT Technologist experience within the last year.
• ARRT (R) certification.
