Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (6:30pm - 7:00am)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

• Provide nursing care to Emergency Room patients using the Nursing Process in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership to ensure safe patient care delivery in a Level 3 Trauma Emergency Department.
• Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education.
• Delegate patient care priorities based on staff education and experience.
• Provide direction and supervision to assigned personnel delivering patient care.
• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings effectively.
• Administer medications and monitor for side effects.
• Apply strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documenting patient care.
• Adhere to safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Floating and call responsibilities required. Call must be answered at least 2 hours prior to shift start.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Mexico
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC

Additional Information

• Patient ratio: 4:1.
• Blocked scheduling and 48-hour guarantees are not approved.
• One summer and one winter blackout date or required holiday, dependent on department needs.
• Maximum of 1 return-to-office (RTO) per schedule; 6-week scheduling cycles.
• No specific scrub color required; full uniform expected.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: MedHost (EDIS).
