Description

Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse - Contract

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Provide care for patients pre-operation, and during Phase I and Phase II recovery after surgery.
Utilize advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and critical care skills to monitor incision sites, body temperature, and other indicators of patient stability or complications.
Work in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU).
Use equipment such as Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCD's, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Hawaii.
Minimum of 2 years of Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Experience in Emergency Department (ED) and/or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) settings.

Schedule

Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours.
Work hours may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
No guarantee of specific hours or shift preference.
On-call shifts required 0-3 times per month (including 8-hour nights and 24-hour weekend/holiday coverage).

Additional Information

Must arrive the Thursday before the start date for employee health appointment on Friday.
Flu vaccination can be administered during employee health clearance appointment.
