Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Surgery
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Unit: Cardiovascular Pre-Op, located in The Heart Tower
- Number of Beds: 4
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Staffing Support: RNs, CNC, secretary, manager, shared with CVOR
- Equipment: GE Carescape Monitoring, Fuji ultrasound
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
- On-Call: Required to stay late 1-2 times per week
- Floating: Within scope of practice and experience
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of PreOp / PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience, including experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
Skills and Competencies
- Proficient in BCMA and excellent documentation
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills for interdepartmental collaboration
Procedures and Responsibilities
- Large-bore IV starts
- Chin-to-toe hair removal
- Medication administration
- Skin assessment
- Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
- Transport patients to OR; assist with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin preparation
Additional Information
- Dress Code: Uniform provided
- The unit is recognized for high standards and uses advanced monitoring and ultrasound technology
- Candidates should be prepared for a demanding environment requiring advanced skills and teamwork
This position is not open to first-time travelers.
