Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (6:30 AM – 6:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Provide nursing care to Emergency Room patients using the Nursing Process in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership to ensure safe patient care delivery in a Level 3 Trauma Emergency Department.
- Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education.
- Delegate patient care priorities based on staff education and experience.
- Provide direction and supervision to assigned personnel delivering patient care.
- Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings effectively.
- Administer medications and monitor for side effects.
- Adhere to safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Use MedHost (EDIS) electronic medical record system.
- Floating between units is required.
- Call-out requirement: minimum 2 hours prior to shift start.
- Patient ratio: 4:1.
- Blocked scheduling and 48-hour guarantees are not approved.
- Time off blackout dates: 1 summer and 1 winter holiday, dependent on department needs.
- Maximum time off: 1 per schedule (6-week scheduling).
- Fingerprints required for all travelers in New Mexico.
- Uniform: Full uniform, no specific scrub color required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
- Current RN license valid in New Mexico.
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC.
- Certifications preferred: ENPC, NRP.
